We were appointed by Sidra Capital to manage this new build project for Greggs, their first Drive-thru in Scotland.

The Brief

This 1,800k sq. ft new build shell was delivered within a live retail park car park with neighbouring businesses that were fully operational, over a period of 17 weeks.

The steel frame was identified as a critical item during the pre-construction phase due to long lead times flagged by our supply chain. A 90-tonne crane was used to erect the steel frame in 2 weeks. Following the frame completion, Kingspan cladding of the client’s colour specification was installed over a 5-week period by our in-house cladding business HBMS. Ordering of the cladding panels was also a critical item due to supply delays.

Externally, car parking bays were reconfigured to suit the shared parking arrangements, trench work to connect services to the main board for the retail park. New lampposts and LED lamps were installed around the building and in the shared car park. Permeable monobloc was laid to form parking bays, while 2x2 slabs form the pedestrian routes around the building. A unique dyed blue concrete was laid to form the drive-thru access, a product which will be significantly harder wearing than paint road markings.

The Results

The project was delivered during normal working hours with site deliveries and work which effected traffic management, such as relocating parking bays and kerb lines altered, were managed to minimise disruption to the public and the adjacent Burger King restaurant. Our Site Manager was in daily contact with the restaurant manager and regular contact with the retail park facilities manager.
